Blue Lagoon Snorkeling: Starfish, Coral Gardens & Shallow Water at Michamvi
The Blue Lagoon sits on the Michamvi Peninsula in the south-east, where the water is shallow, bright and full of life. It is a gentle snorkeling area with starfish on the sand and small reef fish above the corals.
It is an easy tour for families and a good alternative to the longer boat trips.

Overview
A traditional boat takes you from the shore to the best snorkeling spots in the lagoon. In the shallows you can see red and orange starfish, small reef fish and colourful corals without going into deep water.
Your guide points out marine life and keeps an eye on everyone. Equipment is included, and life jackets are available for non-swimmers.
The lagoon is close to Michamvi Beach, so many guests combine the trip with a seafood lunch on the shore or a sunset on the peninsula.
Mosum Tours & Safaris is a Zanzibar-based operator with more than ten years of experience in ground handling. Our guides and drivers live on the island, know it well and are on WhatsApp from 8 AM to 9 PM every day.

Best Time to Snorkel the Blue Lagoon
The Blue Lagoon runs year-round, weather and tides permitting. The dry seasons — June to October and December to February — bring the calmest seas and the clearest water, making them the ideal months to snorkel the coral gardens and starfish beds off the Michamvi coast.
Tide tip: Snorkeling at the Blue Lagoon is tide-dependent — low tide with calm seas gives the clearest visibility over the coral and starfish, so departure times shift with the day's tides. In peak season (June–October & December–February), booking a few days ahead secures your preferred date.
